About this Event
This Hispanic Heritage Month concert marks the inaugural event of the 2024-25 Historical Awareness Recital Series. Border Bones is a binational ensemble dedicated to commissioning and promoting new chamber music. Their mission is to support and collaborate with emerging composers from a variety of backgrounds, striving to set a new standard in chamber music through their unique combination of tenor trombone, bass trombone, guitar, and piano.
The ensemble made its debut at the 2023 International Trombone Festival in Salt Lake City, Utah, where they premiered ten new works by Mexican and Mexican American composers as part of their World Collaborating Project, an annual initiative that explores the heritage and nationality of the collaborating artists.
Recently, Border Bones has commissioned 14 new works and released their first album, Between Borders, in 2024. They are planning a tour of Mexico in 2025 and are preparing to record their second album in collaboration with several South American composers.
