The Tamalada Festival is an educational, family-friendly event that is free and open to the public. The festival brings together presenters from Texas A&M University-Kingsville and the South Texas community to celebrate and education on the history, contributions and cultural value of tamales, corn, and tamaladas. 

The Tamalada Festival is also a part of Texas A&M University-Kingsville’s Family Weekend festivities and Hispanic Heritage Month celebration. 

Festival Schedule of Events (times subject to change)

Stations Available  10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

  • Information Station | Su Casa (blue Conner Museum tent): Pick up a festival schedule, pick up a Tamalada paper fan, and/or children’s activity pack.
  • Metate y Mano Corn Grinding Station | Rincón Jalisco (yellow College of Arts & Sciences tent): Hands-on corn grinding on a metate.
